Community Guidelines
Welcome to Jeerah! We are thrilled to have you here. Jeerah is the UAE's premier hyper-local social network designed exclusively for women. Whether you're looking to make new friends, find local recommendations, or organise a neighbourhood walk, this is your safe space.
To ensure our community stays welcoming, supportive, and secure for every woman in the UAE, we've established these Community Guidelines. By using Jeerah, you agree to uphold these standards.
1. Be your authentic self
Trust is the foundation of the Jeerah community. We expect all members to represent themselves honestly.
- Real identities — please use your real first name and an accurate profile picture. Fake profiles, catfishing, or impersonation of any kind will result in immediate removal.
- Exclusive to women — Jeerah is a dedicated safe space for women. Profiles created by men will be banned.
- One account per person — maintain a single, genuine account to build real relationships with your neighbours.
2. Cultivate kindness and respect
Treat your Jeerah network like your actual neighbourhood — because it is. We celebrate diversity and expect members to treat each other with absolute respect.
- Zero tolerance for hate speech — we do not tolerate slurs, discrimination, or derogatory language regarding race, religion, nationality, age, or background.
- No bullying or harassment — name-calling, shaming, aggressive behaviour, or persistent unwanted contact is strictly prohibited.
- Assume good intentions — written communication can sometimes be misunderstood. Ask clarifying questions before jumping to conclusions.
3. Protect privacy and safety
What happens in Jeerah, stays in Jeerah. Our community thrives because members feel safe sharing their thoughts and local whereabouts.
- No screenshots — do not screenshot or share private conversations, event locations, or other members' photos outside of the Jeerah app without explicit permission.
- Protect your personal info — be mindful of sharing sensitive information (like your exact home address or financial details) in public forums.
- Report, don't engage — if you spot a suspicious profile or inappropriate behaviour, use the reporting tools immediately. Do not engage with the violator.
4. Keep it authentic (no spam)
Jeerah is a place for connection, not a marketplace. While we love supporting local women-owned businesses, spam disrupts the community experience.
- No multi-level marketing (MLM) — do not use Jeerah to recruit for MLMs, pyramid schemes, or aggressive sales campaigns.
- Promote responsibly — self-promotion should be kept to designated threads or spaces (e.g. "Marketplace Mondays"). Do not send unsolicited DMs selling products or services.
- Quality over quantity — avoid posting the same message across multiple neighbourhood groups.
5. Safe in-person meetups
We encourage taking your online friendships offline! However, safety is our top priority when organising Jeerah events.
- Meet in public spaces — for first-time meetings, always choose well-lit, public locations like cafes or parks.
- Clear communication — event hosts should provide accurate descriptions, expectations, and accessibility information for their meetups.
- Respect boundaries — always ask for consent before taking photos at a meetup and before posting them on Jeerah or other social media.
- Accountability — if you RSVP to a neighbourhood event, honour your commitment. If you can't attend, update your status so the host can plan accordingly.
Enforcement and reporting
Our moderation team works tirelessly to keep Jeerah safe. If you encounter a violation of these guidelines:
- Use the "Report" button found on profiles, posts, or messages.
- All reports are kept strictly confidential.
Consequences of violation: we review all reports thoroughly. Depending on the severity of the violation, actions may include content removal, issuing a warning, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban from the Jeerah platform.
Thank you
Thank you for doing your part to make Jeerah the most supportive, engaging, and vibrant community for women in the UAE. We're so glad you're here!
